Style sets the shape of a shutter. Components set its character, how it is opened, how much light it lets through, and how it looks when the sun catches it.
Tilt rods
How the louvres move
Every shutter needs a way to move its louvres together. There are four ways to do it, and each looks quite different.
Front tilt rod
The vertical timber rod linking the louvres so they move in unison. Sits centrally by default, or can be ordered offset.
Hidden tilt rod
Concealed inside the stile for a sleek, minimal look. Adjust one louvre by hand and the rest follow.
Offset tilt rod
Sits roughly 25mm in from the end of the louvres towards the hinge side, adding a little character.
Clearview tilt rod
A discreet aluminium rod on the window side of the panel. Louvres are moved by hand and travel together.
Louvres
Profile and size
The single biggest decision after style. Larger louvres give a cleaner view out and a more contemporary look; smaller ones suit period rooms and smaller windows.
Elliptical
The curved classic, at home in period and contemporary properties alike. Available in 64mm, 76mm, 89mm and 114mm.
Urban Blade
Flat blades that fold flush into each other when upright, for a crisp look with more privacy and light reduction. 89mm only, in Paulownia, Fauxwood and aluminium-core PVC.

Traditional. Suits smaller windows and period rooms.

The everyday choice. Works across a whole house.

A cleaner view out, still comfortable in period rooms.

Hinges are the jewellery of a shutter. Match them to your door furniture, or pick them out against the frame.

Magnets and catches
Discreet magnets hold panels closed against the frame without a visible catch, and keep shaped panels secure where a conventional hinge won't do the job. On tracked shutters, a floor or wall magnet stops a panel drifting when the doors are open.
Frames and finishes
Frames are made to your reveal, not the other way round, so out-of-square Victorian openings and modern plaster returns both get a clean line. Colour is matched at survey, in any of our standard whites, custom colours or wood stains.
